Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said point guard Kyle Lowry is expected to miss the team's upcoming back-to-back games over the weekend, per TSN's Josh Lewenberg. Center Serge Ibaka also remains questionable for a Friday night tilt against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a knee issue.

Lowry has missed the team's last three games with a thigh contusion since a 20-point rout of the Golden State Warriors took place on Nov. 12.

Nurse was vague about Lowry's injury, saying he had not progressed as quickly as expected and that the thigh injury led to “some other issues,” which could be the development of spasms as secondary reactions.

“These things are tricky,” said Nurse.

While it doesn't sound like Lowry will be out a long time, there's a good chance he won't be suiting up until after Christmas, with the potential of him returning the next calendar year if the team chooses to be extra cautious.

The Raptors have a 7-1 record without Kawhi Leonard in the lineup and 1-2 without Lowry, who leads the league in assists with 10 per game.

Leonard, who is coming off a hip injury of his own, will be relied upon for the bulk of the scoring load — a task he has carried efficiently and consistently, putting up 28, 29, and 28 points, respectively, in Lowry's three absences.
