Toronto Raptors star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan has been one of the most consistent scorers in the league for some time now. Although DeRozan has largely relied on his explosiveness and mid-range touch throughout his career, he has always taken flak for not expanding his range beyond the 3-point line.

To no surprise, backcourt partner Kyle Lowry was quick to come to DeRozan's defense, according to Blake Murphy of Raptors Republic.

“That’s what people don’t understand. That man is one of the best players in the NBA. It don’t matter if he shoots 3s or not, he’s still going to get you buckets. That’s what he do: He’s a natural bucket getter.”

The “bromance” between the Raptors backcourt has been well-documented, so Kyle Lowry has become accustomed to sticking up for his teammate. More importantly, DeMar DeRozan has confirmed that notion by coming off his best season yet after averaging a career-high 27.3 points per game last year. However, he remains a lifetime 28 percent shooter from 3-point land and a drastic improvement from deep is not likely to happen anytime soon as he enters his ninth season in the NBA.

The All-Star pairing of Lowry and DeRozan has helped turn the Raptors into one of the most formidable teams in the Eastern Conference. That said, it appears Toronto may be more focused on their lack of success in the playoffs than how the three-time All-Star scores his points.
