The Toronto Raptors might have kept veteran point guard Kyle Lowry through the trade deadline, but that does not mean he will return to “The 6” as a Raptor.

Toronto is playing home games in Tampa, Florida this year because of the Canadian government's refusal to allow the likes of the Raptors and Toronto Blue Jays to play at their normal locales amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, Lowry is a free agent this offseason and thus might not play another game in Scotiabank Arena as a member of the Raptors. The six-time All-Star hinted he had not thought about that notion before, but also suggested he did not want to think about his impending free agency at present:

“Good-(expletive) question,” Lowry said., via Jeff Zillgitt of USA TODAY. “I can’t answer it for you. I haven’t thought about that, and I don’t want to think about that. When and if the time comes and whatever happens, you can call me back and you can ask me that question again.”

If this is Lowry's last ride with the Raptors, it sure has been odd.

The 35-year-old is almost unequivocally the best player in franchise history. He ranks first all-time in win shares and helped guide Toronto to its first NBA title in 2019. Lowry's passion and grit have made him a seminal figure in Raptors history. Yet, he would hardly be going out in the blaze of glory he seems to deserve.

As previously mentioned, Lowry and the Raptors have not been afforded the chance to play in Toronto. The Raptors have also been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this year and currently find themselves out of the playoff picture.

Lowry should and will forever be remembered as a Raptors great. But his potential farewell to Toronto has been rather frustrating both because of circumstance and lack of team success.
