Marc Gasol looked a tad more comfortable during his home debut with his new team, the Toronto Raptors, who pulled out a big-time win over the Brooklyn Nets in cardiac fashion.

During an eight-minute stretch to open the fourth quarter, Gasol displayed why Toronto worked so hard to acquire him, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, scoring 11 points and dishing out two assists, all coupled with key defensive stops in a 127-125 win over the Nets on Monday night.

“I definitely got more comfortable,” said Gasol, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. “There are obviously a few things I can do at both ends of the floor.”

Gasol put up 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in 22 minutes — not glamorous, but filling all the right categories in his second game with the team. His playmaking, for one, made all the difference during the late stretch of the game.

“I'm an unselfish player by nature,” Gasol said. “When I see a pass and somebody open, regardless of who it is, I'm going to throw it to them and keep encouraging guys to keep moving and moving without the ball. Because if they get behind their defender or their defender makes a mistake, we're going to make them pay for it.”

That's how the 7-foot-1 behemoth has endeared himself to his new teammates, by avidly passing the ball and finding those who are open while he tries to figure out the intricacies of Nick Nurse's system.

The rest is just a matter of time.
