OG Anunoby is one of the exciting young players the Toronto Raptors have in their arsenal. On Wednesday, Raptors team president Masai Ujiri was asked about the standout play from Pascal Siakam, but Ujiri used the moment to mention Anunoby who is dealing with the recent death of his father.

“I gotta say this about OG and I hate to put the kid out there too, ya know? Unfortunately, he lost his dad. His dad died in his sleep. Many people don't know this and it's really hit him. But with those two kids, the way their mindset works, I think they complement and they're rising on our team. They're growing and we're really happy to have them.”

Anunoby's father passed away in late September so the loss is still quite recent. That being said, his father would be proud of how Anunoby is playing this year. It's easy to tell that Ujiri thinks very highly of Anunoby as a player and more importantly, as a person.

The 21-year-old small forward is developing into an excellent bench player for the Raptors and he's part of a second unit that is among the best benches in the NBA. Anunoby and Siakam are two of the young players who are adding some serious firepower alongside stars like Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry.

It's always tough to watch a player suffer through the loss of a loved one, but it's always nice to see that player find some success on the court and to find support from a team like the Raptors.
