There have been rumblings that the Toronto Raptors are close to extensions for president Masai Ujiri and general manager Bobby Webster, which makes all the sense in the world. However, Ujiri claimed Thursday that he hasn't talked with Raptors ownership about a new deal.

Ujiri also said his contract negotiations aren't something he'll discuss publicly:

While Ujiri may not be on the verge of an extension (at least based on what he claims), it looks like Webster will be getting his own new deal soon:

Ujiri, now 50 years of age, has become one of the more well-liked executives in the NBA, and Toronto certainly values what he has done for their team. He and Webster worked together to build a championship squad in 2019, the first-ever in franchise history.

The Raptors also did well this season despite losing Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. Toronto even owned a better winning percentage in 2019-20 (albeit in a shortened regular season), but Leonard's absence was felt in the playoffs in a seven-game loss to the Boston Celtics in the second round.

Still, Ujiri and Webster are the right men to lead the Raptors into the future. They also know head coach Nick Nurse is the perfect coach, which is why the club just signed him to a multi-year extension. Toronto has a strong infrastructure in place, and even if there are some personnel changes on the roster, this should be a formidable franchise for years to come.
