New Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse was hired over the summer. Since then, the franchise underwent a transformation with their roster and have the best record in the league at 12-2.

On the opposite end of the world, the Detroit Pistons fired head coach Stan Van Gundy and hired longtime Raptors head coach Dwane Casey. Casey has led the Pistons to a 6-6 record.

Nurse was an assistant under Casey. So, it is kind of odd the two have not spoken since Casey was fired over the summer.

In the end, though, both coaches got what they wanted. Nurse got his chance to finally be a head coach in the league. He was rising through the ranks and just waiting for the perfect opportunity.

The Pistons were looking for a new voice and decided to hire Casey, who was very successful in rebuilding the Raptors team and developing talent. Casey has the chance to once again develop a very young team and bring them into a contending team, just like he did with the Raptors.

With the Raptors and Pistons set to square off for the first time this season, it will be interesting to see what the interaction will be like between these two coaches Wednesday night.
