Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse has spoken out on the now-viral video of Freddie Gillespie and Malachi Flynn doing their rather cringeworthy yet totally hilarious rendition of Miley Cyrus' “Party in the USA.”

Gillespie and Flynn recently underwent their rookie initiation (one of many I presume) wherein team veteran Kyle Lowry asked them to sing Miley's 2009 megahit. Raptors coach Nurse was there to witness the entire fiasco in person and he thought it was a pretty awesome moment:

“I thought they did well,” Nurse said, via Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports. “I really liked Freddie Gillespie. The music overtook him a little bit… It was pretty funny to be there live and it was good to see the energy the team showed. It was a good moment. It was funny.”

In case you haven't seen the clip from the Raptors rookies, it's highly recommended that you check it out. It should, at the very least, put a bit of a smile on your face. The best-case scenario is that you end up laughing your heart out.

As coach Nurse described in his post-performance analysis, it was Gillespie who stole the show. The Raptors rookie let himself go and really went for it.

It was a great bonding moment for the entire team. Everyone was laughing and the entire squad ended up signing with their rookies as the song progressed. While they pretty much butchered what is considered by many as a pop classic, the fact still remains that it was an excellent morale-boosting activity for the Raptors.
