The injury bug continues to bite the Toronto Raptors. Per Blake Murphy of The Athletic, Raptors shooting guard Norman Powell is ruled out indefinitely with a fractured right finger on his non-shooting hand.

According to the Raptors, Powell suffered the fracture to his fourth metatarsal in the fourth quarter of the Raptors' game against the Detroit Pistons on the Detroit Pistons on Friday.

Powell joins veteran center Marc Gasol, Dewan Hernandez and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on the official injury report for Toronto.

The fifth-year shooting guard has been an integral piece to Toronto's success this season. In 38 games, Powell has made 17 starts and is averaging a career-high 15.3 points per game along with 3.9 rebounds while shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 40.1 percent from deep.

Seeing as his previous career-high in scoring was just 8.6 points per game, Powell is in the midst of a major breakout year for the Raptors. Alongside Powell, Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam have also enjoyed breakout seasons thus far.

The development of those players has allowed the defending-champion Raptors to stay contenders in the Eastern Conference even after losing Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Through 49 games, Toronto sits at 35-19 which is good for the second seed in the East — far better than most preseason predictions for the team. The Raptors also possess the third-best winning percentage in the entire NBA behind the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.

With Norman Powell out indefinitely, rookie shooting guard Terrence Davis should see an increase in playing time along with fourth-year wing Patrick McCaw.
