Patrick Beverley is definitely not the type who backs down from anything or anyone. Apparently, the same can be said about Toronto Raptors wing Gary Trent Jr. These two butted heads on Wednesday as the Minnesota Timberwolves hosted Trent and the Raptors.

The game hadn't even started yet when Beverley and Trent got into it right before tip-off. The referees did not like their level of aggression and decided to hand both players with a pair of technical fouls (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):

That's not something you see everyday — and it isn't surprising that it's PatBev that's involved here. Trent is no pushover as well and he made sure to clap back at the feisty Timberwolves guard when Beverley decided to get in his face.

The broadcast was saying something about Trent using the Wolves' “stuff” to clean up his shoes before the game. The Minnesota players did not seem to appreciate Trent's actions, which could explain their animosity towards the Raptors guard/forward. Trent apparently even got into it with Taurean Prince before the game, and you could also see how Anthony Edwards appeared to be mocking Trent as well right before his altercation with Beverley.

Thankfully, the incident turned out to be nothing and we were able to get on with the game shortly after.
