The Toronto Raptors are pinning their hopes on Scottie Barnes becoming a major contributor to their future success. Given the young forward's skill set, he may very well be a significant weapon for the Raptors as early as year one.

Barnes made heads turn in his one season for Florida State as well as during the Summer League, exhibiting impressive defense and heads-up playmaking for his size. The only knock on him, though, has been his shooting, but he's putting in the work to address the hole in his game.

Via Doug Smith of the Toronto Star:

“Just the release on my shot on my fingers,” Barnes said about improving his shot. “Shooting off of two of my fingers, and just pushing to my side a little bit.”

“We’ve been working a lot the last two months. It’s just about getting reps at this point. I feel like I’m getting better at it every single day. Every day is just me getting more and more reps up, keep shooting, day in and day out.”

Scottie Barnes knows it will require consistency and attention to detail if he wants to become a better shooter. There are no shortcuts to it, so the Raptors youngster is already ironing out this part of his game.

In 24 games for the Seminoles, the 6-foot-9 forward shot 27% and 62% from long distance and charity stripe, respectively. In four Summer League games, Barnes upped his free-throw percentage to 73%, reaping the reward of his effort.

Barnes knows he has a lot of work ahead of him, and Raptors fans couldn't be more excited.
