Dwane Casey was announced as one of the three finalists for the NBA Coach of the Year Award. The Toronto Raptors, who recently parted ways with Casey, congratulated him and things got awkward real quick.

Fans quickly reacted to the tweet by replying gifs and memes — all suggesting that it was a wrong move by the Raptors. As not too long ago, Dwane Casey was fired by the organization. As per NBA.com, Raptors President Masai Ujiri said in a statement:
“After careful consideration, I have decided this is a very difficult but necessary step the franchise must take. As a team, we are constantly trying to grow and improve in order to get to the next level,” Ujiri said. “We celebrate everything Dwane has done for the organization, we thank him, and we wish him nothing but the best in future. He was instrumental in creating the identity and culture of who we are as a team, and we are so proud of that.”
Casey's firing came in after the Raptors got embarrassingly swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is the second year in a row that they got a beating from the wind and gold. They had the best record in the Eastern Conference in the regular season, yet they can't seem to get past LeBron James and crew in the playoffs. As the adage goes, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
