Pascal Siakam took a quantum leap last season for the Toronto Raptors and won the league's 2018-19 Most Improved Player award.

Team president Masai Ujiri believes the 25-year old can replicate that again and take yet another jump this season, per Blake Murphy of The Athletic.

The native of Cameroon was arguably the Raptors' second-best player in their run to their first-ever NBA championship.

Siakam had a surprisingly meteoric rise last season for Toronto. He more than doubled his scoring output from 7.9 PPG in 2017-18 to 16.9 PPG in 2018-19. In addition, he also averaged 6.9 RPG and 3.1 APG. He also shot an efficient 54.9 percent from the field and improved drastically from beyond the arc at 36.9 percent.

As mentioned, he was also key throughout Toronto's 2019 post-season run. He posted averages of 19.0 PPG, 7.1 RPG, and 2.8 APG in 24 games. Likewise, Siakam scored his playoff career-high of 32 points in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Spicy P flourished as the number two guy for the Raps last season. This upcoming season, however, should offer a huge challenge for the 25-year old.

With one-and-done franchise superstar and 2019 Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard heading to Southern California to play for the Los Angeles Clippers, the Raptors have officially handed Siakam the keys to franchise.

That's certainly a lot of pressure on the lean shoulders of the 6-foot-9 forward. Still, Toronto has its veteran core of Kyle Lowry, Marc Gasol, and Serge Ibaka to support the reigning MIP.

The Raptors have no intentions to tear it down, as Masai Ujiri believes that they can remain competitive next season.

All of their success, however, depends on if Siakam fully blossoms as the team's franchise star moving forward.
