DeMar DeRozan prepared for a Toronto Raptors game that would once again require him to perform at a high level. He made history by clinching his first career triple-double.

Only this time, he was suiting up for the opposing team.

For the first time since being traded to the San Antonio Spurs, DeRozan faced his former team. DeRozan led the Spurs to a blowout victory, tallying 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Prior to the trade, DeRozan spent nine years with the Raptors, becoming a household name, a crowd favorite, and a franchise player. He led the team to its only conference finals appearance before being traded.

Raptors fans were conflicted after the game. Some of them expressed happiness and gratitude for DeRozan, while others were just upset he because he was on another team:

This game told different stories of the players who were involved in the trade. Kawhi Leonard wanted out of San Antonio, while DeRozan, who never really wanted to leave Toronto, was included in the deal.

It was a statement game for DeRozan, but this game means a lot to him not only as a former Raptor, but as a current Spur as well.

San Antonio is currently seventh in the Western Conference standings with a 22-17 record, and beating Toronto is something they needed to do as a team. In fact, if the Spurs want to continue their playoff streak (21 years of being in the postseason), they will have to win more games.

But for DeMar DeRozan and his fans, this is a bittersweet memory, though something they could still share together.

Just like the old times.
