The Toronto Raptors have engaged in preliminary talks with Pascal Siakam’s representatives for an extension, but there’s no indication a deal is imminent, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN.

Siakam is eligible for a contract extension. If he doesn't sign one before the upcoming season starts, he'll enter restricted free agency next summer.

The Raptors have engaged in preliminary talks with Siakam’s representatives, according to sources, but there’s no indication that a deal is imminent. Siakam’s camp is surely looking for an extension at or close to his maximum of roughly $130 million over four years, as they should.

Under his current contract, Pascal Siakam will make $2.4 million in 2019-20. The talented swingman, who won the 2019 Most Improved Player of the Year Award, averaged 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Raptors during the regular season while shooting 54.9 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line.

During the 2019 playoffs, Siakam put up 19.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists. The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals in six games. Siakam scored 32 points in Game 1 while shooting an impressive 14-of-17 from the floor.

Kawhi Leonard left the Raptors this summer for the Los Angeles Clippers, which means Toronto is going to be asking Siakam to do a lot more this upcoming season. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we see Siakam make the All-Star team in 2020.
