The Toronto Raptors have picked up OG Anunoby's fourth-year option, the team announced Friday. Anunoby's deal for the 2020-21 season is worth $3.87 million, which boosts Toronto's total guaranteed contracts to $23.3 million, according to ESPN Insider Bobby Marks.

The organization is hoping Anunoby can have the same type of breakout season Most Improved Player Pascal Siakam had last season, emerging from a useful bench cog to a full-fledged starter with strong potential to become a star.

$3.87 million is a relatively small price to pay for a player who has shown the right intangibles and can flourish with some added run this year, now that Kawhi Leonard isn't soaking up most of the minutes at his natural position.

The 22-year-old logged six starts in 67 games last season, averaging 7.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.7 steals in a whisker over 20 minutes per game.

Toronto has had continued optimism regarding Anunoby during training camp so far. His ability to handle the ball seems to have improved and his 3-point shot looks sharper, which should put him in contention for a starting spot.

After the Raptors picked up his fourth-year option, Anunoby will now be extension-eligible next summer or potentially become a 2021 restricted free agent.
