Considering that Marc Gasol didn't have a lot of time to rest his body and recuperate this summer, the Toronto Raptors plan to closely monitor his minutes this season.

The Spaniard is fresh from helping the franchise win its first-ever NBA championship back in June and leading Spain to the FIBA World Cup title a couple of weeks ago.

With the Raptors losing Kawhi Leonard in free agency, the team has decided to keep most of last season's core intact in an attempt to remain competitive. Gasol will definitely be a starter for Toronto, but he'll probably be on minutes restriction moving forward.

Gasol was acquired by the Raptors in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies back in February, and he's been instrumental in the team's championship run in 2018-19. Although he no longer plays at the level he used to play, he has proven he can still be effective on both ends of the floor.

If Gasol stays healthy for the majority of this season, he could be the second or third offensive option for the Raptors. Last season, he played 79 games and was able to put up 13.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

However, it is unclear if the Raptors will keep Gasol for the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign. The team's front office has made it clear they will give him and the rest of the team a chance to prove themselves, but should they fail, the team might decide to trade their core players and enter a rebuild.
