The Toronto Raptors won't bring perhaps their most iconic player in Vince Carter back this season, even if the option presents itself through a buyout situation with the Sacramento Kings, according to TSN's Josh Lewenberg.

The Raptors had previously considered having Vinsanity donning the uniform one last time as a means for him to retire with the franchise he started it all with, but given the serious implications of this tight Eastern Conference race with the team in first place, Toronto will be careful with who they pursue this season and ensure it brings immediate help, addressing the needs of the team.

Currently in first place, Toronto will look to make the most of the two-game lead they hold over the second-place Boston Celtics, especially with a trailing Cleveland Cavaliers team that is gaining steam by the minute, currently in a four-game win streak.

Carter, 41, would likely be brought back on a ceremonial one-day contract, much like Paul Pierce was during his jersey retirement with the Boston Celtics.

Half-Man, Half-Amazing has shown to be in spectacular physical shape for his age and has been able to help the team's he's been a part of through the latter years of his career, but the Raptors will need young, fresh legs as they near the postseason, hopeful to get into the Eastern Conference Finals and eventually into their first NBA Finals after shuffling the deck this offseason.

Chances are Carter will find a way to retire a Raptor eventually, but it won't be this season, with too much on the line to take the risk of a ceremonial roster spot.
