Now at 40 years old and in his 20th season in the league, Vince Carter is continuing to prove that age is just a number, and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Despite playing his first campaign for the Sacramento Kings, he has not forgotten the Toronto Raptors, where he began his NBA journey.

Nearing the twilight of his career, Carter is already starting to look forward to the next few years. He admitted recently that he hopes the first team he played for in the league will one day decide to retire his jersey. However, he added, via Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, that he is not focused on that for now as he is still an active player.

“Of course, I’d like for [the Raptors] to retire my jersey. You’d always like your jersey retired. That is where it’s started. There have been talks about it. People talk about it, and I’m very thankful for it. But for me, I try my best not to think about it because I am still of service in this league. At the end of the day, every player’s end result is to see their jersey hanging in the rafters somewhere. That is where it started. Hopefully I will get that opportunity.”

More than his electrifying dunks, Vinsanity made a name for himself as a future star in the the league during his early days in Toronto. He also turned the franchise into a playoff team, which brought a lot of pride to their fans as well.

It may still be unclear if his number 15 jersey will hang in the rafters of the Raptors home court in the future, but it could also be only a matter of time before it happens, especially with all his contributions he gave the franchise. Carter will definitely go down as one of the best ever, and his rim-rattling slams will surely never be forgotten.
