A new piece of information in the Kawhi Leonard saga has emerged: Per Marc Stein of the New York Times, Leonard wants confirmation that Raptors president Masai Ujiri will stay in Toronto before he commits himself:

Besides assurances that Ujiri will stay, Leonard also sought answers on how the Toronto Raptors would improve their team. The superstar knows that several teams around the league are tooling up for a deep postseason run and wants to be sure that Toronto will not rest on its laurels if he decides to return.

If keeping Ujiri on its staff is what it take to land Leonard, Toronto will do everything in its power to ensure Ujiri stays. Leonard is such a powerful free agent that he can make or break the Raptor's offseason. If Toronto retains his services, they will immediately become a top three Finals favorite for 2019-20. If not, they will more than likely sink below more established teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.

It seems like Leonard will take his time to decide on his next team. While the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers jostle with the Raptors to sign the superstar, Leonard has the luxury of holding all the chips.

Now, it seems like the Raptors know what they have to do to get one step closer to signing the Klaw. Expect to see Ujiri back in Toronto's front office if it will give them even the slightest edge in the Leonard race.
