Kawhi Leonard's future with the Toronto Raptors is still in doubt. However, latest developments involving his uncle, Dennis Robertson, could signify that there's a good chance he stays in the Canadian city.

According to Josh Lewenberg of The Sports Network, Robertson has developed a close relationship with Raptors president Masai Ujiri. He cited that Uncle Dennis has been more visible with the team, which is a good thing as Toronto hopes to re-sign Leonard.

It's worth noting that Uncle Dennis, who serves as Kawhi's career and business strategist, was largely blamed for Leonard's departure from the San Antonio Spurs.

“We're seeing Uncle Dennis more and more as the season goes on, as the playoffs have gone on. He's with the team, he's traveling with them. He's around the locker room after games. He's very involved with what's going on here – high-fiving people, hugging people, talking to players/coaches after the game,” Lewenberg said in an appearance on the OverDrive radio show (via reddit).

“He's developed a very close relationship with Masai Uriji. There's some speculation on my part – but why is he doing this? He doesn't have to be building and cultivating relationships he's going to have to break.”

This report comes in the wake of Uncle Dennis' comments about Leonard speaking highly of the city of Toronto.

Leonard has a player option worth $21.3 million for the 2019-20 NBA season. If he exercises this option, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

It remains to be seen what will Leonard do in his free agency; nonetheless, Raptors fans can only hope that this year's run coupled with their improved relationship with Leonard and his camp are enough to entice Kawhi to stay long-term.
