Toronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and league executives believe the four-year, $85 million deal Malcolm Brogdon got from the Indiana Pacers last summer will set the market for VanVleet, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

VanVleet is expected to get a huge payday this offseason. It would make sense for the Raptors to lock him up quickly in free agency since Kyle Lowry has one year left on his contract and is getting older. While not many teams will have cap space this summer and it's unclear just what the salary cap will be set at, VanVleet should still have suitors.

During the 2019-20 regular season, VanVleet averaged 17.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game for the Raptors. He shot 41.3 percent from the field, 39.0 percent from beyond the arc and 84.8 percent from the free-throw line in 35.7 minutes per contest.

In the Raptors' Game 1 win over the Brooklyn Nets to begin the 2020 playoffs, VanVleet went off for 30 points and 11 assists. Toronto can't risk losing the Rockford, Illinois native in the offseason, so Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster should offer him something close to $100 million.

Since entering the NBA in 2016, VanVleet has averaged 10.5 points, 2.6 boards and 4.1 assists with the Raptors. He's one of the best undrafted players in recent memory, helping Toronto win its first championship in franchise history last season.
