The end of the tunnel that is the Kawhi Leonard saga has yet to be reached and no one seems to have any definite idea of where it will all end. However, ESPN's Brian Windhorst suggests that, as of right now, the team carrying Leonard when it emerges out of the tunnel could very well be the Toronto Raptors.

Here’s what Windhorst had to say during a recent appearance on ESPN’s The Lowe Post (h/t Real GM).

“I think they're in the driver's seat for Kawhi because I think the Lakers have given up,” said Brian Windhorst on The Lowe Post. “The Sixers have given up. And with the Nets, Bulls and Hawks spending their cap space, it makes it harder to assemble a multi-team trade. I think the Raptors are in the driver's seat.”

Zach Lowe also chimed in, and what he said might not be something that could make the day of DeMar DeRozan fans in Toronto.

“If you think it's a joke, you should probably recalibrate your expectations,” said Zach Lowe on the chances of Toronto trading for Leonard.

Leonard has one more year left on his current deal, but whether he spends the final leg of his contract in San Antonio or somewhere else, that does not guarantee that he would stick to that team beyond the 2018-19 season. But if Toronto opts to make a move, the Raptors have some assets to pique the Spurs’ attention, including DeRozan, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, and some draft picks.
