It looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers have caused a bit of a mess. A franchise record 59 wins and a revamped offensive system was not enough to prevent the Toronto Raptors from being swept once again by LeBron James and the Cavs.

According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, the Raptors reportedly gauged the trade market for star guard DeMar DeRozan last summer, and they may very well do so again this summer.

That's why changes are already underway. Expect them to continue.

Word is that the Raptors quietly explored their DeMar DeRozan trade options last summer — before they had any inkling that a breakout season was looming — and I'd fully expect Toronto to explore those possibilities again. Not just with DeRozan but with anyone and everyone on the roster.

If Stein is correct, the Raptors looked to deal DeRozan one season after he re-signed with the team and after his career-best season averaging 27.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.

This season, the Raptors were able to lead the Eastern Conference in wins and looked like a legitimate contender to take down the Cleveland Cavaliers as the playoffs approached. They couldn't do much right in the series, however, as they were swept out for the second postseason in a row, leading to the firing of head coach Dwane Casey.

DeRozan, who has been an All-Star with Toronto for the last three years, averaged 23 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and a career-high 1.1 three-pointers per game this season.

More to come…
