It has been a long and winding road for Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam — from New Mexico State to becoming an NBA All-Star — but Thursday, he got the word about his All-Star selection. This was his reaction:

After having been named the league's Most Improved Player last season, Pascal Siakam has the rare opportunity to win the Award in back-to-back seasons as he has taken the proverbial next step toward super-stardom in 2019-20.

Averaging 23.5 points and 7.7 rebounds on a nightly basis, Pascal Siakam has been the backbone of a Raptors team that is eyeing a championship repeat and has pushed all of its eggs in the basket of banking on Siakam being an All-Star for years to come.

Pascal Siakam will be joined in the Eastern Conference starting five by Trae Young, Kemba Walker, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid, with the All-Star Game to take place Feb. 16 in Chicago.
