The Toronto Raptors seem to have checked all the boxes in the offseason, but could something else be brewing soon?

The Toronto Raptors really went into free agency with only two key objectives. As soon as the free agency clock started ticking, they re-signed Chris Boucher and Thaddeus Young. They wasted no time doing what had to be done.

The Raptors also got good deals on both re-signings, enabling them to save some cash while keeping these key pieces.

For his part, Chris Boucher was very deserving of his new three-year deal. He was in a bit of a slump early last season, but he ended strong. He averaged around 9 points and 6 rebounds per game in 80 games for the Raptors. Those numbers aren't too shabby for someone whose number isn't often called on offense. And even if his blocks per game dipped, he still proved to be an efficient defender for Toronto.

Thaddeus Young, meanwhile, gets a nice two-year extension thanks to solid play after getting traded from the San Antonio Spurs. Young was a reliable scorer and rebounder off the bench for the Raptors. He should continue in that role this coming season. He's just an excellent fit for this team, and they rewarded him for that.

Both were essential parts of the Raptors, and Toronto would not have had many options to replace them had they departed the team.

Perhaps more importantly, however, GM Bobby Webster and President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri both caught a big fish by prying Otto Porter Jr. from the Golden State Warriors.

Porter has value as a shooter and makes a difference defensively by using his long limbs. It will be interesting to see whether he can stay healthy and motivated in a new setting after winning a title with Golden State. If Porter meshes well with the other hybrid forwards on Nick Nurse's squad, though, then this really makes the Raptors even deeper and more versatile.

All these moves might make Raptors fans feel like they could do no wrong, but is it possible that they fell a bit short during the 2022 NBA Draft?

Raptors' worst move of 2022 NBA offseason

Drafting Christian Koloko

With the 33rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Raptors chose Cameroonian center Christian Koloko.

Their main objective was trying to get someone who could be a viable rim protector. At 7'1 and averaging close to 3 blocks per game in this final year at Arizona, Koloko seems to fit the bill quite well.

His size alone makes a big difference as the Raptors didn't have a single guy standing beyond 6'9 last season. In addition, Koloko also has a 7'4 wingspan, and game film shows he has a powerful motor. He might give the Raptors the aggression and edge they occasionally lacked last season.

Having said that, what makes this a tad underwhelming is that Koloko may not have a high ceiling in the NBA. He has a very limited offensive skill-set. He pretty much does nothing outside of the paint, and he's definitely not a shooter by any stretch of the imagination.

This isn't really a bad pick. The Raptors had to make do with their only pick in the draft. In the greater scheme of things, however, this is the move that will likely have the least impact on the team in the near future.

Speaking of the future, the Raptors' current team makeup should make them competitive again next season. Interestingly enough, they are also still a viable destination for Kevin Durant, and a potential deal could be brewing beneath the surface. If they can swing that, maybe the Raptors could have another championship-level run in the cards.
