The water crisis in Flint, Michigan might have faded from the headlines the past few months, but that does not mean the struggles of its residents are already over.

And just recently, former Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace took to The Players' Tribune to make an emotional appeal and cried for help in behalf of the city's residents. To begin with, he offered some perspective.

“When you woke up this morning, what’s the first thing you did? Took a piss and flushed the toilet? Brushed your teeth? Took a shower? Whatever you did, I’m guessing you used water.”

“What’d you do after that? Made yourself some coffee or tea? Washed the pan you used to cook breakfast? More water.”

“Now, how about when you got to the office? Did you wash your hands? Did you rinse off the apple you ate for a snack? You definitely used some water.”

“That’s all normal, part of our everyday lives.”

“Unless you live in Flint, Michigan.”

The 6-foot-10 forward also challenged the people thinking that the crisis is already over to see for themselves what's really going on there.

“Don’t nobody feel good about this. It’s a crisis.”

“I’m telling y’all. Anyone can go up there and see.”

“Whenever someone — family, friends, former teammates — says to me, “Let me know the next time you’re going up there and I’ll buy a pallet of water,” I just say, “How about you come up with me. How about you come and see how this s— is for yourself.”

A sad reality was also exposed in Wallace's write-up titled “The Truth About Flint:”

“And, to this day, the people of Flint still have to pay their water bills — they have to pay for water that is still unsafe and contaminated.”

“That’s right. They still want those people to pay their [expletive] water bills.”

Cases have been filed to those liable for causing the water to get tampered and help has flown in before, but it has not been enough. The people are still suffering up to this day and Rasheed Wallace wants change and help to continue to pour in for all victims in Flint, Michigan.
