One thing you may first notice about Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins is his awesome dark visor on his helmet. However, he doesn't wear it just because he thinks it looks cool, but it actually helps get rid of migraine headaches.

Per an article published by Ryan Mink on the team's official website:

“I’m used to playing with them and dealing with it,” Alex Collins said. “Some are a little more severe than others, but for the most part, I’ll push through it.”

During the preseason, the second-year player out of the University of Arkansas was approved by the league to wear it during both games and team practices.

“The dark visor has really done a lot,” Collins said. “Over the past few weeks, I haven’t had [migraines] at all.”

Collins also added that his issues with migraines have been an off-and-on thing ever since he was in high school. Luckily, his dark visor has really helped him this season when on the field.

“It’s like playing in the shade all the time,” Collins said. “When I’m able to play with a relaxed face out there, reading my keys and knowing what I need to be doing without that strain in my eyes, the migraines don’t happen.”

Back in early September, Collins was waived by the Seattle Seahawks after he did not make their final 53-man roster for the regular season. Afterwards, Collins was claimed by the Ravens and eventually was elevated to the team's active roster.

It's safe to say that Baltimore found a diamond in the rough, as Collins has now rushed for 851 yards on 162 carries (5.1 yards per rushing attempt) to go along with five touchdowns on the ground.

Earlier in the season, Collins made national headlines for using dance class to help become a better running back via developing more solid footwork.
