The Baltimore Ravens have what feels like a commanding 2-0 early-season lead in the AFC North Division standings, powered by a high-octane, Lamar Jackson–led offense. Not everybody is buying the great start by the Ravens, though.
Per Mike Sando in The Athletic:
The Ravens' first matchup of the 2019 NFL season was against the lowly Miami Dolphins, who were thoroughly routed by giving up a franchise-best 59 points to Baltimore. Jackson, the Louisville quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, threw five touchdowns in the victory in the face of skeptics calling the decorated athlete more of a running back than a signal-caller.
Then, last Sunday, Baltimore won their Week 2 tilt with the Arizona Cardinals. It was a much duller affair than the offense-heavy season-opening bout, but Jackson and the Ravens won 23-17 against rookie Kyle Murray and the Cardinals, the first overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft last April.
Jackson took over as starter of the Ravens' offense mid-season last year when veteran Joe Flacco, the Super Bowl champion and MVP, went down with an injury. Baltimore won all but one of their games with Jackson under center last year before exiting in the Wild Card round of the 2018-19 playoffs.
Jackson continues to burn through every opponent as a starter in the regular season, though, now 8-1.
