It is no secret that the Baltimore Ravens are in dire need of more playmakers on offense. They are hoping that wide receiver Breshad Perriman can help fill that role.

Unfortunately, there has been plenty of uncertainty surrounding Perriman's career up to this point. As a result, he was among the notable players to have their fifth-year options declined, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

The following players didn't have their 2019 options picked up and are now slated for free agency at the end of this season: Pats DT Danny Shelton Pats DT Malcom Brown Pats WR Phillip Dorsett Niners OL Laken Tomlinson Dolphins LB Stephone Anthony Ravens WR Breshad Perriman

Baltimore's decision should hardly come as any surprise. Not only would it have carried a $9.4 million cap hit next season, but there is no guarantee that he will even make the roster at this point. Other than occasional flashes of promise, Perriman has not done anything to garner a long-term future with the Ravens.

He was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, Perriman's career has been plagued with injuries that have ultimately stalled his development. The former UCF product missed his entire rookie campaign with a knee injury which began to hinder him once again last offseason. As a result, he has only amassed 43 catches for 576 yards and three touchdowns up to this point.

That said, time is starting to run out for Perriman to prove his worth. This season seems to be a make or break year for the young speedster.
