The Baltimore Ravens officially announced a contract extension for offensive lineman Marshal Yanda on Wednesday, as Yanda has agreed to a deal that will keep him in Baltimore through 2020, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

This deal had been expected for a couple of weeks.

While it does keep Yanda on the books for the next two seasons, it does not guarantee that he will play out the contract, as the 34-year-old had given some thought to retirement earlier this offseason.

Yanda is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he started all 16 games at right guard and made the Pro Bowl.

The Cedar Rapids, Ia. native, who played his collegiate football at the University of Iowa, was originally selected by the Ravens in the third round (86th pick overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.

He immediately won a starting job along Baltimore's offensive line during his rookie season, playing both tackle positions. He then made the move to guard during his second year, which is where he has played almost exclusively ever since.

Yanda went on to earn his first Pro Bowl selection during his fifth season in 2011, which began a string of six consecutive Pro Bowl appearances, including a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections along the way.

Overall, Yanda has made the Pro Bowl seven times and may very well have made it eight straight years had it not been for a season-ending injury that limited him to just two games in 2017.

Baltimore won 10 games and captured the AFC North division title this past season.
