The Baltimore Ravens have released kicker Elliott Fry, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Baltimore brought Fry in for the preseason finale after his release from the Chicago Bears. He did well in his lone game donning purple and black, making two field goals in the same number of attempts and a pair of PATs. But his performance wasn't enough to do the improbable – beating All-Pro Justin Tucker for the job.

Fry spent his summer competing for Chicago's kicker job following the release of Cody Parker, as he missed a game-changing 43-yard field goal in the playoffs. The Bears decided to go with Eddy Pineiro to close out the preseason.

The kicking competition in Chicago was a bright spot for Fry's summer. He believes it helped him grow immensely and prove that he's an NFL player.

“I really do feel like I can play in the NFL,” Fry said, via The Athletic's Adam Jahns. “Going through this whole process and going through everything, I feel like I can do it … I feel like I can get in there, I can play at this level and be good.”

Fry had a good preseason between Chicago and Baltimore. In three games played, he made three out of his four field goal attempts and all four of his PAT kicks. He should be back in the NFL soon for a kicker-needy squad, such as the New York Jets. A return to Chicago isn't out of the realm of possibility either if Pineiro struggles.
