Seth Roberts' time as a free agent didn't last long. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the veteran wide receiver will sign a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Terms of the contract have yet to be disclosed.

Roberts was released by the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday. Cutting ties with the five-year veteran saved the Raiders $4.65 million in cap space this offseason. Roberts' release came in the aftermath of Oakland signing former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Ryan Grant to a cheap, one-year deal earlier this week.

Though Roberts has been a reliable member of the Raiders' receiving corps since being signed as an undrafted free agent out of West Alabama in 2014, he's yet to build on the promise he showed during his second season, when he burst onto the scene in his first time on the field, finishing with 32 catches for 480 yards and a career-best five touchdowns. Roberts had a career-high 45 catches for 494 yards and two scores last season, serving as Oakland's No. 2 wideout.

Baltimore is in need of help on the outside after releasing productive veteran Michael Crabtree and letting the speedy John Brown walk to the Buffalo Bills in free agency earlier this offseason. The Ravens will almost certainly target wide receivers in the draft, but also have less of a need for impact players on the outside than any other team in the league given their commitment to running the football under rising sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Roberts joins a largely-anonymous group of wide receivers led by Willie Snead IV.
