The Baltimore Ravens' 2017 season came to a disappointing end in a deflating Week 17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals that eliminated the team from playoff contention.

It didn't take long for the franchise to turn the page toward next season, as the front office has singled out former Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano as a primary candidate for their vacant defensive coordinator position after Dean Peas announced his retirement, according to Mike Preston of The Baltimore Sun.

Pagano has previous ties to the Ravens, having served as their secondary coach from 2008-10 prior to being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2011. He left the organization for the Colts' head coaching position in 2012, which he held until he was let go earlier this week.

This is the first position that Pagano has been linked to since his departure from Indianapolis after six seasons with the team. He helped lead them to three straight playoff appearances in his first three years, but they fell short of the playoffs over the last three seasons, leading to his firing.

At this point, Pagano appears to be the frontrunner for the Ravens' defensive coordinator position given his history with the franchise. That is, if Pagano wants to jump back into coaching this quickly.
