Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell should be more than happy in his new home in Maryland. The five-time Pro Bowler is entering his 13th year in the NFL and his trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars to Baltimore has given the veteran another shot a Super Bowl ring — even if it did come as a surprise.

Campbell said that he did not the expect to be traded and had plans of being with the Jaguars until his contract expired and “maybe even longer,” adding that he was expecting to be offered a contract extension rather than get traded.

The former All-Pro defensive lineman has been with the Jacksonville franchise since 2017. He played in all 48 regular season games in his time with the Jaguars and averaged over 60 tackles and 10 sacks in each of he's seasons with the team. On March 19, Jacksonville traded Campbell to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2020 5th round pick. The star defensive end would subsequently sign a one-year extension with the Baltimore team, a condition he said had to be met for the trade to push through.

Alongside rookie Patrick Queen and veteran Derek Wolfe, Campbell will join Matt Judon and the already formidable Ravens defense. Baltimore had one of the best defenses in the league last year and they were even better after acquiring cornerback Marcus Peters in the middle of the season. With head coach John Harbaugh and 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson leading the charge, Campbell is hoping for a Super Bowl run this coming 2020 season.
