Earl Thomas has had a rollercoaster of a year. This time last year, the Baltimore Ravens safety was in a contract battle with the Seahawks. Things got very contentious, as the team refused to commit to him long-term. It looked for a while like Thomas' holdout would cause him to miss regular season games, but just before the start of the season he reported.

Thomas played well initially, but then went down with a devastating injury. In just the fourth game of the year, Thomas broke his leg and landed on injured reserve. He had a very public falling out with Seattle, and left them for the first time in his career this offseason.

Thomas has been rehabbing ever since, and he recently made it back onto the practice field. With training camp right around the corner, Thomas said recently that he feels he's in the “right spot” physically, per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com. Thomas also said that he's ready to roll and has had no complications from his broken leg. It's good to hear Thomas is feeling healthy, as he's been banged up each of the past few years.

Before that though he had started all 16 games in six straight years, so there's probably no reason to be too concerned about his health.

This will be his first season suiting up for anyone other than the Seahawks, but Thomas feels right at home. Thomas said the Ravens have “my type of guys” in their locker room. Still only 30, Thomas should have plenty left in the tank physically, and he should return to being one of the league's top safeties in 2019.
