The Kansas City Chiefs strength with Patrick Mahomes under center is big explosive players but Earl Thomas thinks he along with the rest of the Baltimore Ravens secondary can slow that down.

“Luckily the Ravens have me playing free safety, controlling the deep end,” Thomas said via the Baltimore Ravens team website. “I plan on eliminating all the big plays.”

The Ravens attempt to try and slow down the Chiefs will be quite the task but should be a little easier with the team missing Tyreek Hill. Last week with Hill out, it was Demarcus Robinson who caught six passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns and that is someone who Thomas is going to have to keep a close eye on.

Thomas isn't the only one that is taking a close look at this matchup. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked about Thomas and gave rave reviews about the All-Pro.

“He’s extremely smart,” Mahomes said. “He’s able to recognize routes and break on them fast. You think there are times where you can shoot some balls into seams and he makes plays on them.”

The Chiefs' strength is moving the ball down the field and the Ravens' strength the first couple of weeks has been the play of their secondary. Something is going to have to give when the two sides square off at Arrowhead Stadium.

It's only Week 3 but this is a game that could change the entire direction of the AFC, and we should get a good feel for exactly where these teams are.
