The Baltimore Ravens offense has undergone some major changes with the emergence of quarterback Lamar Jackson. It appears offensive coordinator Greg Roman will continue with that trend going into the offseason.

Roman was promoted to offensive coordinator after Marty Mornhinweg was relieved of his duties after the playoffs. He said during an appearance on the Ravens Podcast that his first order of business will be building the offense around Jackson.

“We’re literally redefining everything we do as a staff, as a group,” Roman said. “Literally, everything. Every formation, every route, every run, every route concept. How can we make this offense, which up until this point has been good … we’re trying to make it as great as we can be. How can we make it as learnable, as understandable, as streamlined, as efficient [as possible]?”

Roman's comments should come as no surprise. The Ravens committed to Jackson as their quarterback down the final stretch of the 2018 NFL season. If that were not enough, they officially ended the “Flacco era” after trading him to the Denver Broncos.

The transition under center was a seamless one for Jackson. Although he is still far from a finished product, there is no denying that his presence helped bolster the offense this season. He established himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league during his brief stretch as the starter thanks to his versatile skill set. The Ravens will have their work cut out coming up with a whole new playbook considering how much his skill set differs from Flacco's.
