Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards isn't bothered by the backfield becoming more crowded this offseason. The Ravens selected J.K. Dobbins out of Ohio State in the second round of the 2020 draft to improve a position that already included Justice Hill, Mark Ingram and Edwards.

Edwards knows that the group is now more talented, but he still believes there is an opportunity to have a big year. He also thinks there's a chance for the Ravens to break a lot of records. Edwards commented on the situation to the team's website:

“I think [offensive coordinator Greg] Roman is committed to it, it seems like [head coach John] Harbaugh is committed to it. That’s the first step. We’ll see where it goes. I’m excited. It’s a chance to make history.”

Edwards said he wasn't shocked that the Ravens decided to select Dobbins with the 55th pick, but he was surprised Dobbins was still on the board. There were some, like Edwards, who believed Dobbins was the best running back in the class, and if that ends up being the case, the Ravens got a steal. Edwards continued:

“I was surprised because I thought he was like the best back in the class … We definitely got better. It's going to be difficult to do better than what we did last year, breaking the rushing record. But I think it's a step forward. It's a definite step towards that because he's a great back. He's going to make the competition that much better at running back.”

The Ravens are a run-first team, but even with how much they run the ball it's going to be quite the task to keep everyone involved in the offense.
