Per Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has agreed to a contract extension with the organization.

Harbaugh has been the head coach of the Ravens for 11 years. During his tenure, he's only had one losing season. This was in 2015 when the Ravens went 5-11. Their quarterback Joe Flacco only played in 100 of their games as they dealt with injuries all season long.

Otherwise, Harbaugh has coached a team with nothing but success. He has a 104-72 overall record in the regular season and is 10-6 overall in the playoffs.

He also has one Super Bowl win under his belt in 2012 when the team shocked everyone by beating the Indianapolis Colts, the Denver Broncos, the New England Patriots, and then the San Franciso 49ers in the Super Bowl. The team had a spectacular defense, highlighted by Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, and Haloti Ngata. Their infamous running back Ray Rice also led the offensive attack that season.

Since then, the Ravens have failed to make a conference championship appearance. Joe Flacco is no longer in his prime, yet the team is still defined by their best trait – their defense.

This past season, the Ravens went 10-6 and finished first overall in the AFC North Division. Their offense was pretty good under their rookie Lamar Jackson. They averaged around 24.3 points per game, which ranked 13th overall in the entire league. However, their defense was stifling, only allowing 17.9 points per game. This ranked second in the NFL.

Harbaugh's demand for excellence on the defensive side of the ball is the cause for his continued success.
