The Baltimore Ravens are anxiously anticipating the return of Marquise Brown. We got an update on the rookie receiver today, and coach John Harbaugh hedged a little bit. Harbaugh is “hopeful Ravens rookie WR Marquise Brown will be ready for training camp,” writes Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Garafolo also notes that Harbaugh “says he doesn’t know that for certain but no setbacks and they’re optimistic.” While you shouldn't panic if you're a Ravens fan, this is just the slightest bit concerning. The Ravens have steadily insisted Brown should be ready for training camp, but now it sounds like they're backtracking just a bit.

Not long before the draft, it was announced that Brown had a foot injury and would undergo Lisfranc surgery. Lisfranc injuries are always tricky, and they can linger. As we've seen with Sammy Watkins, foot injuries can turn into a very big deal for receivers.

There was initially some hope that Brown would participate in minicamp, but that quickly got pushed to training camp. The Ravens have made overhauling their receiving corps a priority as they transition into their first full season with Lamar Jackson under center.

They let John Brown and Michael Crabtree walk in free agency, and drafted Brown and Miles Boykin early on. Brown dominated at Oklahoma the past couple of years, leading many to label him the best receiver in the draft. Last year, he had 75 catches for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns.

While Brown is a burner with a ton of talent, his injury isn't helping his cause. He needs all the time he can get to develop chemistry with Jackson, so hopefully he gets back soon.
