The Baltimore Ravens fell short against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round. However, Ravens' bitter loss likely won't hinder the organization from offering a contract extension for quarterback Lamar Jackson

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta addressed Jackson's contract situation on Monday:

This comes not long after Ravens head coach John Harbaugh teased the possibility of a Lamar Jackson extension.

Jackson first started out his career in Baltimore as a backup to former QB1 Joe Flacco in the 2018 NFL season. After a subpar performance in his rookie year and Flacco off the roster, Jackson immediately took a big jump in his sophomore campaign.

The former Louisville standout broke several NFL records along the way, highlighted by his 1,206 rushing yards and 176 attempts. His historic individual showing led him to be hailed as the unanimous MVP of the 2019 NFL season.

However, Lamar Jackson's promising run was stopped in its tracks when his team was bounced out of the playoffs thanks to a 28-12 defeat to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round.

Heightened expectations were then set on Jackson and the Ravens heading into his third season with the team in 2020. He didn't match his MVP numbers in terms of passing or running, but he still managed to lead the team to an 11-5 record in the regular season.

Jackson finally snagged the first playoff win of his career by edging out the Titans with a 20-13 victory in the Wild Card Round. However, the Ravens failed to stand their ground against the Bills and ultimately succumbed to a 17-3 defeat.

With Eric DeCosta's assurance, Lamar Jackson will certainly stay in Baltimore beyond 2021 and will continue to lead the team to better campaigns moving forward.
