Just a reminder to Baltimore Ravens fans: don't get Lamar Jackson's hopes up on the team potentially landing star linebacker Bobby Wagner in free agency.

Wagner has garnered several interests from teams ever since he was released by the Seattle Seahawks. He was first rumored to be heading to the Los Angeles Rams, with a visit to LA believed to be the final nail in the coffin for the other teams trying to pursue him. However, the 31-year-old LB was then reported to be visiting the Ravens as he explore his options, sparking talks that he could instead join the Baltimore franchise.

Of course, fans and Ravens players alike got hyped with the news. In fact, Ravens safety Tony Jefferson II tweeted an edited photo of Wagner in Baltimore jersey right after the reports of the veteran LB's visit surfaced.

After seeing the report and that edited photo, though, Lamar Jackson couldn't help but react to it. But he doesn't want to get overly excite, understanding that free agency can be crazy and nothing is final yet until anyone puts pen to paper.

“Listen don’t hype me up and when I see ESPN later this week I see Bob in another uniform that’s not ours,” Jackson wrote on Twitter alongside a laughing and angry emoji.

It's easy to see where Jackson is coming from. Until a deal is finalized, it's better not to jump to conclusions and celebrate. It's understandable why a lot of people are so hyped, but as the Ravens QB hinted, that's a recipe for disappointment if the player end up signing with a different team.

The Ravens could really use someone like Bobby Wagner, and Lamar Jackson could benefit having a defensive guru to alleviate the pressure on the offense. But then again, for Baltimore to pull it off, they have to show the eight-time Pro Bowler that they are capable of competing for the Super Bowl moving forward.

For what it's worth, it is surprising to see Wagner still unsigned at this point of the offseason. Clearly, he is taking his time in deciding and putting a lot of thoughts in his next team. Aside from the Rams and Ravens, the likes of the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Denver Broncos have been linked with him as well.
