The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the better and more successful franchises for over 20 years now. Going back to the days of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, their defense was always their calling card. That appears to have changed a bit with Lamar Jackson at the helm. However, former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard has openly been a loud critic of Jackson's.

The feud between their quarterback and former safety has truly ratcheted up. On Wednesday, Lamar Jackson and Bernard Pollard went back and forth trading barbs on Twitter, and things got very contentious.

Pollard posted a video of himself with a huge hit in college at Purdue. The Ravens QB took exception to the self-grandiose attitude.

But that was only one of the conversations between the two Ravens. Pollard also posted separately something that clearly got under Jackson's skin.

Lamar Jackson responded, throwing some serious shade at Pollard and his career.

“You been cappin since I been playing for the Ravens I never heard of you, tbh (to be honest). My boy you got your Super Bowl cause of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed that year.” Things did not stop there though.

Bernard responded: “No TOP wr will ever come there while LJ is there. Plenty of WRs have been available to get in the off-season while LJ has been starting, but nobody wants to go. They give him the respect, but they don't want to play with him. LJ is good but he's not able to make the throws.”

Clearly this beef is very personal. The Ravens QB won the NFL MVP Award in 2019 but has mostly struggled in the playoffs during his career.

Pollard was nicknamed as the ‘Bone Crusher' for delivering big hits. His other nickname was the ‘Patriot Killer' because he single handedly ended four different Patriots players' seasons. He was the one who hit Tom Brady when he tore his ACL in 2008. Wes Welker tore his ACL trying to avoid a hit from Pollard in 2009 in a meaningless Week 17 game. He ended Rob Gronkowski's season with a massive hit during the 2011 playoffs. He also knocked Patriots running back Stevan Ridley unconscious with a huge hit during the playoffs a few seasons later.

But overall, his career was not incredibly productive. He did however win a Super Bowl title in 2013 against the San Francisco 49ers.

He's been critical of Jackson for a long time now, having said that the Ravens will never win a Super Bowl with Jackson as their quarterback. That's the beginning of the beef. Now, we all get to sit back and enjoy watching the rest of it play out.
