Sunday's highly anticipated matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots will feature a head-to-head matchup between two star quarterbacks in Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson. Ahead of these two teams' Week 10 showdown, Jackson had nothing but high praise for Newton.

Jackson spoke highly of Newton's accomplishments during his decorated career, while also crediting his elder compatriot for having a tremendous influence on his career:

“I watched Cam since Auburn. Everyone in the country did,” the Ravens star said, via Conor Roche of Boston.com. “Everyone knew about Cam – Superman – doing his thing. A lot of us looked up to him.

“He’s a mobile quarterback. He does his thing. He won the Heisman, won the college championship, won MVP, went to the Super Bowl. I followed him a lot, wanted to get to where he’s at. Now I’m here, now I’ve got to play against him. I just can’t wait to do that.”

The Ravens QB and 2019 MVP added that it is only right that he acknowledges Cam Newton's greatness:

“Game recognize game,” Jackson shared. “He’s the O.G. – Superman.”

It's always great to hear the younger generation tipping their hat to the trail blazers those that revolutionized the game before them. This is exactly the case for Jackson, who clearly considers Newton to be one of his biggest idols.

There's not going to be much pleasantries once the game kicks off, though, with Lamar Jackson and Co. looking to build on the Ravens' 24-10 Week 9 victory against the Indianapolis Colts. Baltimore will look to make it back-to-back wins, as they hope to further improve their 6-2 standing.
