Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has announced that he’ll be the cover athlete for the new Madden 21 video game.

Jackson is coming off a historic season with the Ravens, and now he’ll try to repeat Patrick Mahomes’ success as the cover athlete on the previous version of Madden.

Given the year Jackson just had, this hardly comes as a surprise.

The 23-year-old threw for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 113.3. In addition, he rushed for 1,206 yards and seven scores, averaging a hefty 6.9 yards per carry.

As a result of his phenomenal season, Jackson made the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection. Most importantly, he wont the NFL MVP award.

The Ravens went 14-2 and captured the AFC North division title thanks to Jackson's dominance, but they disappointed in the playoffs, falling to the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round.

Jackson, who played his collegiate football at Louisville, was originally selected by Baltimore in the first round (32nd pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He stepped in as the Ravens' starting quarterback midway through his rookie year due to an injury to Joe Flacco, leading the club to an AFC North division crown. In seven starts, Jackson finished with 1,201 yards, six touchdowns and three picks, completing 58.2 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 84.5. He also totaled 695 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, logging 4.7 yards per attempt.

Not bad for a guy who some thought would end up being a wide receiver on the NFL level.
