It can often be difficult for a reigning MVP to find a way to improve during the offseason. However, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has fully acknowledged that he is still far from a finished product.

Head coach John Harbaugh voiced his desire to expand the playbook when it comes to the passing game heading into the 2020 NFL season. According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Jackson says that he has put an emphasis on improving his deep ball this offseason:

Jackson said one of his primary focuses this offseason was down-the-field, deep passes and out-breaking routes. Wants that to be bigger part of offense this season.

Jackson helped lead one of the most prolific rushing offenses in NFL history during the 2019 campaign. Although it yielded him plenty of individual and team success during the regular season, defenses were able to find a way to contain their rushing attack in the playoffs. As a result, Baltimore is now making sure to get rid of any glaring weakness that may be exposed.

Jackson was just 22nd in the NFL in completion percentage on passes beyond 15 yards. While some of this can be attributed to the few deep options in his receiving corps, he seems to be well-aware of where his shortcomings are as a passer.

There is certainly good reason to be optimistic about Jackson's potential improvement given the tremendous jump he made in Year 2. Perhaps the Ravens can look into his desire to bring in wide receiver Antonio Brown to help ease the process.
