The Baltimore Ravens have been put through the gauntlet of running back injuries before the season has even started.

First, it was star back J.K. Dobbins suffering a season-ending injury in the preseason. After that, it was Justice Hill tore his achilles, ending his season before it even started.

To address the thin backfield, the Ravens added Le'Veon Bell with intentions of putting him on the practice squad. Now those plans may be upgraded, per ProFootballTalk.

“Le’Veon’s a guy I think we’re very familiar with,” Harbaugh said in his press conference. “Obviously, played against him so many times and so many highly competitive, emotional games. It was fun to have him in for the workout. He had a good workout. Practiced yesterday, did a good job. So, yeah, we’ll have a process with him. He’s excited, he’s learning, and we’ll see where it goes.”

While all of that is the typical “coach speak” from Ravens head coach John Harbaugh it was what he mentioned afterwards that will peak the interest of Baltimore fans.

Harbaugh noted that there's a chance Bell is activated from the practice squad for the Ravens' Week 1 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Gus Edwards is the top dog in the backfield now for the Ravens but it could unravel in a lot of different ways for Baltimore as the season carries on. And that could include Bell having an elevated role.
