Longtime Ravens right guard Marshal Yanda had an influence on Ravens right tackle Orlando Brown Jr while they played alongside each other. However, this upcoming season, Yanda will no longer be playing in the NFL.

Yanda, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, recently retired from the NFL after a 13-season career with the Ravens. In a recent video call with the media, Brown expressed that it will be an adjustment.

“It’s going to be so different … He’s been next to me almost every snap for the last two years and he’s helped me grow as a player, helped me grow as a person and, most importantly, I’m going to miss being able to ask him questions. It’s very rare you get someone that’s been in the league for 13 years and been able to play at a high level for so long. I didn’t take it for granted at all.”

Yanda's decision to retire will most certainly leave a void in the Ravens' offensive line. As of right now, the Ravens only have two players in their projected depth chart at right guard, Ben Powers and RJ Prince. This past season, Powers played in just one game for the Ravens as a rookie, when Yanda sat out the regular-season finale. So making the jump to a starter might be difficult for Powers. However, Brown also expressed that he’d like to see Powers get the starting nod.

Nevertheless, Yanda's right guard position will be irreplaceable. As for Brown, he played phenomenally in his second season in the NFL. The 23-year-old played a vital role in the Ravens' offensive success. In addition, he earned his first-ever Pro Bowl nod. Yanda's tutelage likely played a part.
