In an exclusive interview with the Establish The Pass podcast on ClutchPoints, Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowler Patrick Ricard talked about playing alongside Lamar Jackson, his evolution from college defensive lineman to one of the best fullbacks in the NFL, making fullback assists a part of fantasy football, new details about his neighbor stealing his DoorDash Outback Steakhouse order, and more.

After talking about Jackson's rise from struggling in rookie OTAs to winning an MVP in his second season, Ricard brought up the ever-present doubters who will always be present no matter how much Lamar accomplishes.

“This year, people will say, ‘rocky start,' all this stuff. Regardless, we still went to the playoffs and [Lamar] won his first game against a team [Tennessee Titans] we lost twice to now,” said Ricard.

“I think he’s just slowly silencing the doubters he’s had. But I mean, regardless it doesn’t matter because people still doubt Tom Brady. Dude won his seventh Super Bowl and people are still going to be like, ‘Oh, Tom this, Tom that,'” said Ricard.

“It's going to be the same with Lamar. Maybe his style of play is different than most quarterbacks. Yeah, he runs the ball a lot, but guess what? He runs it very well,” said Ricard. “So why wouldn't we do that with him? It makes our offense more explosive, more dynamic. He can run it, he can give it to JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, me and Nick Boyle will lead block for him, or he can pass it to any of our receivers or tight ends… But yeah, shoot, he’s a great guy.

“The crazy thing too, he’s so young, he just turned 24,” said Ricard. “I think Peyton Manning went to the playoffs three times [early in his career] and didn’t win one game. So people that critique him for all that stuff, it's whatever. Honestly, I don’t think it bothers him, he just cares about winning and just cares about being a good teammate. That’s all he works on and cares about, so definitely happy to be his teammate for sure, he's a good guy.”
